Accounts Assistant
Dublin – Independent Express Cargo

Finance Team Leader and Financial Controller

Job Summary:                                  
To support the production of weekly, monthly and statutory accounts for a number of cost centres and legal entities; to ensure taxation and statutory reporting requirements are processed on time; to support the development of IT systems and controls particularly with respect to accounting processes and reporting. 

Key Responsibilities:

Working with The Financial Controller, Finance Team Leader and the Finance Team:

  • Weekly and Monthly Management Accounts
    • Ensure timely and accurate sales ledger, purchase ledger and journal processing
    • Ledger and balance sheet reconciliations
    • Analytical review versus budget and last year
    • Liaise with internal departments to resolve queries in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ensuring that accounting records are maintained in accordance with accepted policies and procedures
  • Taxation
    • PAYE Returns
    • VAT Returns
    • VIES Returns
    • Diesel Rebate Claim
    • Customs TAN Account Reconciliation
  • Intercompany Transactions
    • Ensure accurate and efficient intercompany recording and recharge process
    • Recharges
    • Reconciliations
  • Projects / Reviews
    • Reviewing, developing and implementing appropriate controls and procedures
    • AR leger reviews
    • AP ledger reviews
    • Support other ad-hoc tasks and projects


  • Ability to work as part of a team and take direction accurately
  • Analytical thinker and problem solver
  • Competent IT skills, particularly proficient with spreadsheet software
  • High level of accuracy
  • Extremely organised in a manner that is easily read by others
  • Trustworthy and discreet when dealing with confidential information
  • Administrative skills
  • Previous experience of general accounting

IT Skills:

  • PC literacy, MS Outlook, Excel to a high standard and Word
  • Proficiency in relevant accounting software, ideally Pegasus


  • AAT
  • Level 5 and Level 6 Business Administration, book-keeping and finance
  • Work Experience Equivalent
  • Studying or interested in studying for an accounting technician or accounting qualification

HGV driver
Cork/Dublin – Independent Express Cargo

Required by busy freight company located at
Kilbarry Enterprise Centre, Dublin Hill, Cork,
and Northwest Business Park, Dublin 15.

To drive 18 tonne rigid vehicle
Deliveries and collection of palletised freight

• Must have appropriate licence to drive rigid vehicle
• Current CPC and Tacho card
• Three years driving experience
• A good standard of English
• Customer service skills

Independent Express Cargo is a Dublin-based provider of freight, transport and logistics services and has been an established player in the industry since 1984. Independent Express Cargo operates from a 70,000 sq ft premises in Northwest Business Park, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, this is a state of the art freight handling depot. By day, this operates as the Independent Express Dublin depot, and by night it’s the busy hub for The Pallet Network Ireland operation owned by Independent Express Cargo.
Independent also has a 75,000 sq. ft logistics warehouse adjoining the transport hub.
