Job description
Loading/unloading trucks, operating warehouse handling equipment, compliance with all warehouse procedures, carrying out duties as instructed.
Experience of working in a busy warehouse would be beneficial.
Excellent forklift skills, current forklift licence and manual handling certificate preferred.

Assistant Depot Manager
Independent Express Cargo – Little Island, County Cork

Job description

Job Summary:
To assist in all aspects of depot management, ensuring the effective management of the Cork depot, inclusive of transportation, warehouse and administrative activities as well as providing cover for the Depot Manager when required.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative

Review driver’s manifests
Planning and scheduling as required
Print driver’s manifest’s and send to handheld device
Carry out not received/misroute/wrong service discrepancy reports
Answer email and phone queries in prompt manner
Generating reports as requested by the management team
Review missing POD report each morning and assign redelivery discrep as applicable
Ensure all activities within the depot are completed in the most efficient manner possible
Implement and monitor the required Health & Safety standards to ensure they remain in place
Ensure runs are finalised, scanned & printed in advance to avoid delays
General managerial duties as advised

Employee Management

Support and guide team members under your management
Ensure that all issues are logged and escalated to the relevant manager
Encourage employee engagement, actively promoting continuous improvement

Reporting

Responsible for recording and maintaining relevant information
Review not received/misroute/wrong service discrepancy reports and ensure all information is accurate
Review missing POD report each morning and ensure the redelivery discrep is assigned as applicable
Generate ad hoc reports as requested

Skills/Competencies:

Managerial/supervisory experience within a transportation focused environment
A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Professional, positive, and focused approach
Confident and experienced in meeting strict timelines while ensuring all policies and procedures are followed
Systems orientated

Qualifications & Experience:

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Programs
Experience in developing KPI targets and monitoring same
A proven track record of success in a similar fast paced environment
Highly efficient
Comfortable working independently
